     3 is an upcoming Tamil romance film directed by Aishwarya Dhanush, daughter of actor Rajinikanth, who makes her directorial debut with the film. It stars her husband Dhanush opposite Shruti Haasan, daughter of actor Kamal Haasan, and is produced by Dhanush's father Kasthuri Raja. The film which is produced by Dhanush's father Kasthuri Raja, features music scored by Anirudh Ravichander while the cinematography is handled by Velraj. The film is expected to hit theatres on 30 March 2012 worldwide. It will be released in the language Tamil, however a dubbed version in Hindi is announced to release on 30 March 2012..

    Aishwarya revealed that the script was written with Shruti Haasan in mind to play the female lead role but the actress was unavailable to do the film. Subsequently, Aishwarya signed on Amala Paul, after being impressed by her work in Mynaa.This film’s press meet was held at the Star City Hotel on 5 August 2011 in Chennai with the director, the cinematographer and the lead pair, Dhanush and Amala Paul, in attendance.
